Come For The Race,

Stay For The Classic Maine Lobsterbake!

The Lobsterman Triathlon is one of the most decorated and well-known races in the United States, both because of it’s stunning beauty and the fantastic after-party. Recognized by publications around the world as one of the top Bucket List Races, Lobsterman is also known for the authentic Maine Lobsterbake that we throw once the event wraps up. Bring the family and stay for the weekend. September is the perfect time to enjoy the State of Maine.

THE COURSE

With a clear, calm ocean swim, rolling country roads for the bike, and run through pastures and farm stands, The Lobsterman Triathlon offers a one-of-a-kind racing experience. Come check out why so many magazines have named it among the best in America.

Swim

1.5K (.93 miles): Starting at the boat launch near the entrance to Winslow park, athletes will do a counterclockwise slightly diamond swim in Casco Bay that finishes on the beach. Average water temperature for September is low to mid-60s, but can be colder depending on the weather leading up to race day.

Bike

40K (24.7 miles): Bike along the scenic coastline of Freeport and Brunswick. Enjoy waterviews, sprawling pastures, and low traffic. The route is a challenging lollipop, with rolling terrain that includes a couple of climbs.

Run

10K (6.2 miles): Leave Winslow park and run through the quaint village of South Freeport before returning. The course features closed roads and lots of spectator support! There will be aid stations at approximately every mile with water and lemon-lime electrolyte replacement drink. Some stations will have energy gels and other snacks as well.

Enjoy Our

Exclusive After-Party

The best part of the post-race festivities is the Lobsterbake! It will include fresh lobster, steamers, corn, coleslaw, bread, etc. and there will be plenty of free beer to enjoy (you must be 21 years of age to consume). Non-alcoholic drinks will also be provided. Beer is available to anyone of age, and does not require a ticket for the Lobsterbake.

Participate As a relay

Lobsterman offers all-male, all-female, and co-ed options for relays. Teams can be two or three people. Relays will go off in their own wave, and have their own set of awards.

Participate as an Individual

Sign up in your age group, or in one of our special classes (Clydesdale, Athena, Elite), and compete against others in that category. We also offer an Aquabike option, which includes the swim and the bike, but no run.

Participate as a Team

We are excited to announce the Lobsterman Team Challenge. Bring your club or organizations, and compete against other groups. Teams will be scored and ranked based on both participation and place.
